Stockport's increasingly vibrant Old Town area is blessed with two real butchers, 3 fruit & veg sellers, 3 cake bakeries and a fabulous fishmonger.
As they don't open Mondays, you can guarantee that the fish isn't held over for days as it is in the supermarkets. Amongst their huge and yet very reasonably priced range, they usually have 2 types of cod, seafood in season, tiger prawns & squid and they also sell good plump chickens, venison and prepared pheasants in season.
There is no reason not to shop local when produce of this quality is on the doorstep!
